This song is by Asobi Seksu, a New York band that somehow manages to incorporate Japanese pop influences with a My Bloody Valentine-tinged sound. This is one of the more shoegazy-sounding tracks on the record. This album is in heavy rotation in my car.
I went to see Fred Eaglesmith play this weekend at the Tractor Tavern, a nice small bar that mostly has country and rockabilly shows, although I've seen jazz there too. I went with Sean and Steve, who turned me on to Fred the last time I saw him, which was probably in 99 or 00. He's a country-rock songwriter from Ontario, who mostly writes songs about ordinary working guys, cars, and trucks. Doesn't sound like it would be my thing, but he's a very good songwriter and he puts on an awesome show. He has a contingent of rabid fans called the FredHeads. Anyway, this song is pretty representative of the more rocking end of his output (he has a few heartbreakers too - look for a track called "Water In the Fuel"), so enjoy.

I'm posting this because there was a discussion of the band on Metachat yesterday, which got them on my mind. I've been listening to them since their first album, and since they're vaguely from the same part of the country that I live in, I've seen them live several times over the years. This song wasn't an immediate favorite with me, but it's grown on me (especially since one of my best friends commented how much he liked this track, which made me give it a second look).
I do love the line "You're so occupied with what other persons are occupied with, and vice versa."

I've become totally captivated by the new album by The Knife, Silent Shout.
I describe it as a robot and an alien having sex in a haunted house.
